The Hut

Belmont County, OH

The Hut is a small retreat set within the woods of Dutton Ranch in southeastern Ohio.

The building is reduced to a simple cedar-covered volume, with one end opening almost entirely toward the trees. Inside, a fireplace, small kitchen, built-in storage, pale wood, and simple painted surfaces provide only what’s needed for a few days away.

Untreated cedar shingles will gray naturally with age, allowing the building to settle further into the surrounding woods over time.
